What is AAC format?
AAC, short for Advanced Audio Coding, is a lossy compression
and encoding algorithm for digital audio. Designed by the MPEG
group that includes Dolby, Sony, Nokia, FhG and AT & T, AAC
is believed to be the logical successor to MP3 for audio coding
at medium to high bit rates. Officially declared an international
standard in 1997, AAC is most widely used in Apple Computer's
line of iPod portable music players and produce better audio
quality than MP3 using less physical space for the files. AAC
can be switched dynamically between MDCT block lengths of 2,048
points to 256 points. AAC can help people understand what is
said to them as well as being able to say and write what they
want.
